Where it fits

Our fine grades suit mortars, plasters (renders) and screeds that are mixed with water on site or at a batching plant: masonry mortar, cement plaster and floor screeds.

Not dried today

Our sand is screened dry but not kiln-dried. Factory dry-mix products, such as bagged mortars, tile adhesives and grouts, need kiln-dried sand, because moisture starts the cement reacting in the bag. We don't offer our sand for those products yet. A sand dryer is part of our planned expansion; we will update this page once dried grades are available.

For reference, the 0.1–0.6 mm grade shows a typical moisture of 0.50 % (ASTM D2216-98, company technical data sheet, 2026). Moisture in delivered sand depends on weather and storage, so treat it as typical, not guaranteed.

What mortar and plaster makers check

  • Grading: a fine, even sand for smooth plasters; a wider grading for masonry mortar. In Europe and Turkey, sand for mortar is specified to EN 13139.
  • Fines and clay: they affect water demand and workability.
  • Colour: it matters for white and coloured finishes.

Recommended grades

  • 0–2 mm and 0–1 mm: masonry mortar and screeds.
  • 0–800 µm and 0–600 µm: finer plasters and renders.
  • 0.1–0.6 mm: few fines, with a published typical analysis. About 0.7 % passes 75 µm (ASTM C429-01, company technical data sheet, 2026; typical).
